Advising Vision

I’ve had the privilege of knowing and collaborating with hundreds of organizers and social justice leaders from around the world. Whether we met in New York City, rural America, Uganda, India, or Cambodia, the folks I worked with always named the lack of resources as the #1 impediment to their ability to reach their goals. The resources they were able to access were often far below what was actually needed, and almost always required onerous compliance and reporting requirements.

For organizers and leaders on the ground, this cycle of increasingly being asked to do more with less, is taking its toll. Frontline leaders and organizations are burnt out, and frustrated by the ways that philanthropy is undermining their efficacy. But it doesn’t have to be this way. There is more than enough wealth to resource our movements. We can choose to move differently, and recalibrate how we give

My Advising Approach

I've raised over $100 million, and directed 90% of those resources to grassroots organizations and movements. Utilizing my background and expertise in social justice philanthropy, I advise philanthropic institutions and wealthy individuals on how to move resources abundantly to social justice movements. Through deep listening, curiosity, compassion, and data-driven strategy, I assist institutions and individuals in gaining clarity on how to wield their wealth and resources as powerful tools in service of our collective liberation, embodying trust and accountability to movements in the process.

In this area of my practice, I also design tailored political education curricula to help donors and funders build a deeper understanding and analysis of social justice issues and social justice philanthropy.
